Chabad For Israelim \ Beit Knesset Ha’Rambam
‘Rambam Synagouge is more than a synagogue it is a community where Israeli’s/ Hebrew speakers and Australians all join together with a common bond, the Hebrew language and the Jewish faith. ,
‘It breaks down all the stereotypes I brought with me from Israel and has given me a new sense of Jewish pride’ –quote from Keren, one of our members
Background:
With the vision of creating a sense of community and belonging and opening the doors of Judaism to every Israeli and Jew in Australia , the Rambam synagogue-president Mr Yochanan Yoshia and Chabad for Israeli’s, Rabbi Menachem & Shterny Dadon joined forces in 2002.
Since then, a dynamic community and education centre has evolved. Harambam is a place where people of all backgrounds and degrees of observance can turn to at any time, enjoy exploring their heritage or just socialise in an Israeli-style, warm, welcoming and non-judgmental environment
Who we are
For some, Ha’Rambam is a social centre, to others an uplifting and inspirational holiday program. For some it’s the “Israeli minyan”, to others it’s a playgroup ‘Ima Veani-mummy & me’.
For some It’s a memorable bat/bar-mitzvah program or an adult education centre, to others a place to celebrate smachot, such as brit and a wedding, But for all it’s a home, an extended family; or in the words of an Israeli family who recently moved to Sydney on a year fellowship, ‘sitting at the Shabbat lunch at Bet Knesset Harambam, with all our new found friends made me realise how lucky I am to have met you..’
